West Ferris residents can bank closer to home once more

A bank branch with tellers and live customer service interaction has not been a thing in West Ferris since late 2018 but today that changes.

The residents and businesses of West Ferris once again have banking services in their own backyard, with the opening of a second Caisse populaire Alliance location in the Nipissing Plaza at 390 Lakeshore Drive. The Caisse has renovated and filled the hole left by the departed Scotiabank. Many West Ferris residents seeking a personal touch to their banking experience have been forced to travel across town — a challenge for seniors and those faced with accessibility barriers, especially during the winter months.

While the branch opens today, the official grand opening will be marked sometime in June.

Some “12,000 people were without local, walk-in personalized financial services for too long, and now they’ll have access to personal and commercial banking services as well wealth management services,” says Regional Manager, Norm St. Amour.

“We’ve received wonderful feedback from the entire community, but especially from the people and the businesses of Ferris,” adds St. Amour. “They’ve truly shown that they appreciate our investment in this part of town, and we know they’ll be investing in us, especially now that they’re fully aware that we serve everyone, English or French.”

“With this new branch, it means we’ve created five new jobs in North Bay, and used all local service providers to renovate our new location. We believe in supporting the local business community as much as we can,” says St. Amour.

In November 2018, Mayor Al McDonald categorized the opening of the Caisse in West Ferris as a good news story. “I think it sends a lot of confidence not only to young families but businesses as well,” McDonald said.

Caisse populaire Alliance, President and CEO, Pierre Dorval says that they’re ready to deliver the excellent customer service and personalized financial services the Caisse on Cassells Street is renowned for in North Bay.

“We know that one of the reasons for our success is how we truly appreciate our clients and the unique custom financial solutions they can often find at no other financial facility,” Dorval explains.
