Customer care representatives are confirming today that the Nipissing Plaza Scotiabank location will soon close its doors for good.
The Scotiabank branch is one of three in North Bay. Besides the Nipissing Plaza location at 390 Lakeshore Drive that is closing, there are branches in the Northgate Shopping Centre and on Main Street West.
Calls to Scotiabank confirm the Nipissing Plaza location is closing. One representative has said the “merger” date is May 11, while an employee of the bank tells Moose FM that the date is actually September 26, but the branch closing is a done deal regardless of the date. The Nipissing Plaza branch is merging with the Northgate Shopping Centre location. According to the customer care specialist, current accounts will be merged with one of the other two branches remaining in North Bay.
The representative also stated that job loss numbers are uncertain as “much of the staff will be absorbed,” within the other local branches.
The Nipissing Plaza location is the last full branch of any bank operating in West Ferris.
