Cyclist killed in Highway 63 collision was recent Nipissing University grad

Nipissing University is mourning one of its own.

Shelby Dickey, 24, a student-athlete at Nipissing from Grey County, Ontario, has been identified as the victim of a fatal collision on Highway 63 on September 1.

North Bay OPP says Dickey was riding her bicycle in the northeast end of North Bay when she was involved in a collision with a motor vehicle.

From the Nipissing University Lakers Facebook: “Shelby Dickey, a student and part of our Lakers community for a number of years, passed away in a tragic cycling accident. She recently completed her undergraduate degree and was to defend her Master’s thesis. Our deepest condolences go to all who knew her.”

The collision remains under investigation.
