That’s when Cascades Casino North Bay will be open to the public.
“We’re very excited about this,” says Rob Mitchell, Director of Communications and Public Affairs.”This is not our grand opening, we’re calling it a soft opening. But, it’ll be the first time the folks in North Bay can actually come to Gateway Cascades Casino on Pinewood Park Drive.”
He says they have the gamut when it comes to gaming.
“We’ve got everything from roulette to blackjack to a wide variety of slots under all kinds of different denominations of play,” Mitchell says. “We’ve got electronic table games, there’s lots and lots of variety.”
He also says they’ve brought about 200 new jobs to North Bay and are still doing some hiring.
“We’ve been running what is best described as a boot camp. We’ve been running staff in the facility both on the gaming floor and our kitchen and restaurant staff,” he says. “Testing the food, going through the menu, doing the food preparation and sharing with the staff to work through the menu and that kind of training.”
With pandemic protocols, Mitchell says masking is still in effect.
“Other than that we’re almost back to normal in terms of COVID. You will see hand sanitization stations and staff wiping down machines after individual play,” he says.
Construction on the casino officially began 22 months ago, and was paused for a time during the pandemic too.
A grand opening will be planned for a later date.
