A local senior is one of 22 recognized by the province with the Ontario Senior Achievement Award.
Officials say the 2024 recipients, including Anne Taylor, have made lasting impacts through volunteerism, charitable fundraising and advocacy around the province.
They say Taylor has been a dedicated volunteer for over 20 years, notably with the Nipissing Trackers, a program offering free downhill skiing to children with developmental or physical disabilities.
“A proud Italian immigrant, Anne also volunteers with the Davedi Club’s Ladies Auxiliary, celebrating her heritage,” states a release. “Her tireless work and passion for helping others—especially children—have made a lasting impact on her community.”
According to the province, the Ontario Senior Achievement Award recognizes individuals who are making a meaningful difference in the lives and well-being of people in Ontario of all ages through community service and humanitarian efforts.
“I am delighted to have this opportunity to acknowledge the work of 22 impressive Ontario seniors who have done so much to uplift and support their communities,” says the Honourable Edith Dumont, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario. “These awards recognize the wisdom, generosity, and positive impact of seniors in all aspects of daily life.”
An awards ceremony was held at Queen’s Park on June 25.
