The city is getting ready for homecoming.
Stretching from downtown, the waterfront and Lee Park, the new North Bay Homecoming Festival, is coming up on the Civic Holiday weekend (Aug. 1–3).
The event is celebrating the city’s centennial.
“Whether you’re a long-time resident, someone with roots in the city, a newcomer, visitor, or Indigenous person whose ancestors lived on this land, come join in the weekend’s celebrations and fun-filled family-friendly activities,” says Mayor Peter Chirico.
Highlights include historical exhibits & hands-on exploring, an artisan market, family-friendly activities, games and demonstrations, a mayor’s corn roast, live and local music and more.
Activities will be clustered in a number of “villages”.
Officials say everyone can get involved by hosting a community display, sponsoring a festival village or activity, or highlighting their group’s story, milestones, or future goals as part of our city’s evolving legacy.
“North Bay’s Homecoming Festival is also a special opportunity for businesses, cultural and religious groups, educational institutions, service clubs, Indigenous groups, and organizations to share their history in North Bay – and their vision for its future – while celebrating 100 years of growth, resilience, and community as a city,” says Cathy Seguin, a member of the Festival Planning Committee.
A number of local organizations are helping plan the Homecoming Festival, including North Bay & District Chamber of Commerce, North Bay Museum, Dionne Quintuplets Museum, Creative Industries, North Bay Downtown, Tourism North Bay and Heritage Gardeners.
“Let’s make the 2025 Homecoming Festival a meaningful part of a truly historic year of celebrations throughout North Bay,” adds Chirico.
