Hike for Hospice raises over $145,000 and counting

Nipissing Serenity Hospice is heralding its 10th anniversary Hike for Hospice as the largest, single fundraising event in its history.

$145,000 has been raised with the campaign continuing until Nov. 10.

The fundraising goal was $100,000.

“We appreciate all the support that we’ve had from the communities that we serve,” says Gil Pharand, Executive Director of Nipissing Serenity Hospice. “The ongoing commitment never ceases to amaze us. We truly are grateful.”

While the hospice does receive some provincial funding, he says fundraising is essential to their operations.

“We have to support our additional operational needs through private support,” says Pharand. “We need to ensure that we can continue to provide this very valuable service. And that’s where Hike for Hospice comes in.”

Since its inception, the Hike for Hospice has now raised over $800,000.
