Fiona Madigan is the 2025 Female Athlete of the Year

The North Bay Sports Hall of Fame has named Fiona Madigan the 2025 recipient of the Mort Fellman Award as Female Athlete of the Year.

She’s being recognized for accomplishments in track and field and basketball.

In 2025, representing the West Ferris Trojans, Madigan won NDA gold in the 100m, long jump and triple jump events for the third season in a row.

At NOSSA, she won gold, silver and bronze medals capping off a high school career that included five gold, four silver and one bronze as well as the NOSSA record for novice triple jump.

Throughout her high school career, Madigan competed at OFSSA in eight individual events and two relays, winning gold in novice long jump.
On the hardcourt, Madigan split time between basketball teams in North Bay and Orangeville.

She played AAU basketball for the Kia Nurse Elite club in the Nike EYBL circuit while training locally with Joey Puddister, Net Basketball and the Nipissing Lakers.

She led her scholastic team, the Orangeville Bears in minutes played, points and steals in a season that included several player of the game awards and a nomination to play in the All-Canadian game.

Her success was rewarded with the offer of a NCAA Division1 basketball scholarship at Northern Illinois University.
The hall says Madigan’s 2025 season in basketball and track was built from a love of playing, which was nurtured by the local grassroots sports organizations like North Bay Spartans, Legion Track and Field, NBBA Basketball, Pro Sports Management NBA league, Titans swimming, Lakers and North Bay Youth Soccer, Lakers Volleyball, Apollo Gymnastics and North Bay Bulldogs.

Officials say she developed her athletic talents, competitive spirit and sportsmanship under the guidance of the many volunteers who power these organizations and is grateful for the organizers, coaches, officials, teachers and teammates from across the city who played with her and coached her over the years.
Madigan will receive her award at the 45th Annual Induction and Awards Dinner on Saturday, May 2, at the Davedi Club.

Tickets can be purchased through Larry Tougas at 705-303-8104. Tickets are also available at the Davedi Club by calling 705-474-4190. Tickets are $65.
