Anishinabek Police launch Vulnerable Persons Registry

The Anishinabek Police Service says when a vulnerable person goes missing, every minute matters.

To enhance community safety, they’ve launched a new Vulnerable Persons Registry.

Officials say it’s for people with a medical, cognitive, or physical condition that may be prone to wandering or getting lost.

They say by registering a loved one with the new registry before a crisis, parents or caregivers can provide critical information such as any history of wandering or getting lost, locations where they’ve previously been located, if they wear locative tech, have any medical conditions, what communications methods work best for them, and more.

The goal is to have those vital details, up-to-date photographs and physical descriptions, readily available to the police service to assist in missing person investigations and pave the way for a positive outcome.

The registry is free, voluntary, and confidential.

Further details can found on the Anishinabek Police Service website.
