Illegal walleye fishing on Lake Nipissing nets man and woman $2,800 in total fines

It’s a warning to people who catch and keep undersized fish from Lake Nipissing.

A man and woman who did just that now face fines of $1,400 each.

Kenneth Callahan of Jocko Point and Melissa Collins of Redbridge were convicted of catching and keeping seven walleye that were less than 18.1 inches long.

The pair got caught last year on January 29th by undercover Conservation Officers out on general patrol.

The officers saw the pair catch the small walleye near the Goose Islands and then Collins tried hiding them by putting the fish in the hole of their ice fishing hut.

The officers seized the walleye during their investigation.
