Kicking off the Santa Fund campaign on the radio

The North Bay Santa Fund is back for the 74th year and our radio stations are looking to help them reach their fundraising goal.

106.3 Moose FM and Country 90.5 FM are hosting their annual Santa Fund Radiothon on Friday, December 3rd.

Mike Monaghan, Moose FM morning show host, says the broadcast runs from 6 am to 6 pm and provides an opportunity for local residents to help make a difference for a family this year.

“We are into the 16th year of what we call the kick-off of the Santa Fund. This is when a lot of people start to do their Christmas carolling, bake sales and they do everything to raise money,” he says pointing to the Santa Fund’s fundraising goal. “It’s a lot of money. $175,000 this year and every penny is needed.”

Kevin Oschefski, Country FM morning show host says their inaugural event is going to be a lot of fun.

“It’s brand new for us at Country FM to be a part of this fundraiser,” he says. “I know the Moose has done it for a lot of years and it’s a great way to kick off the Santa Fund campaign to get everybody thinking about it because as we know, we are into just a few weeks before Christmas and it’s going to come up quick.”

Each year the Santa Fund provides hundreds of baskets of groceries and toys to families and children in North Bay.

Families in need within the city limits can still apply for Santa Fund assistance online or at the LIPI office at 127 Main Street East.

The deadline is Friday, December 10th.
