New capacity limits in effect at city arenas

The latest measures announced by the province to help slow the transmission of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 have taken effect at city arenas.

New capacity limits started Sunday at Memorial Gardens, Pete Palangio Arena and the West Ferris Arena.

On Friday, the province announced that sports and entertainment venues with an indoor capacity of 1,000 people or more will be limited to 50 percent.

They also announced the restriction of food and drink services at the venues.

The city says there will be no food or beverage permitted in the arenas.

Players will be allowed to bring in a water bottle.

The public is reminded that face coverings must be worn inside the arenas and during public skating.

New capacity limits at city arenas include:
Memorial Gardens Sports Arena
– Ice Surface 75
– Spectator Seating 2131
– Hall of Fame Meeting Area 30
– Club Lounge Meeting Area 30
– Scout Room 15

Pete Palangio Arena
– Ice Surface 50
– Spectator Seating 75 per pad
– Boardroom 30

West Ferris Arena
– Ice Surface 50
– Spectator Seating 300
– Boardroom 15
– Auditorium 75
