This Zoongaabwidaa Giizhbad weekend, welcome the Dionne sisters and head over to Summer in the Park.
North Bay City Council will make a decision regarding the renaming of the Civic Holiday at tonight’s regular meeting. The proposed name of the holiday is Zoongaabwidaa Giizhgad Day – Standing Strong Together Day.
The renaming of the holiday is permitted by provincial legislation on a municipal level and Councillors George Maroosis and Mac Bain brought a motion forward last year suggesting a partnership with Nipissing First Nation in renaming the August holiday Monday.
The intention is to change the name for this year’s Civic Holiday if approval from Council is given.
