Tractor-trailer driver facing impaired charges after swerving all over HWY 11

A Calgary man is facing charges and his tractor trailer has been impounded after police say he was driving impaired.

Police got the call on Sunday night about the vehicle swerving all over the road on Highway 11.

Officers stopped the vehicle on Stockdale Road and the driver was given a roadside test which police say he failed. He was arrested at the scene.

The 37-year-old was charged with:

Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs contrary to section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC);
Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus) contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the CC;
Driving Motor Vehicle with Unsealed Container of Liquor contrary to section 32(1) of the Liquor Licence Act;
Drive Commercial Motor Vehicle Without Required Inspection contrary to section 107(9) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA);
Fail to Maintain Daily Log contrary to section 190(3) of the HTA;
Driver of Commercial Motor Vehicle – Fail to Carry Proof of Insurance contrary to section 23(3) of the HTA;
Fail to Surrender CVOR Certificate contrary to section 16(4) of the HTA; and
Fail to Surrender Documents contrary to section 216.1(3) of the HTA.

The vehicle was impounded for 7 days and his license was suspended for 90.

He was released and will appear in North Bay court on December 22.
