Tim Hortons’ Smile Cookie campaign a big boost to the North Bay Food Bank

$32,679 was raised through this year’s Smile Cookie campaign for the North Bay Food Bank. For one week in September, Tim Hortons’ guests had the opportunity to purchase chocolate chunk Smile Cookies for $1, with all proceeds from the sales supporting the North Bay Food Bank. What started off as a way to fundraise for the Hamilton Children’s Hospital in Ontario in 1996, has grown into a major fundraising event across North America.  In 2013, the Smile Cookie campaign raised $5 million across Canada and the United States.

Manager of the North Bay Food Bank, Amber Livingstone, says they would like to thank Tim Hortons for choosing the food bank to be the recipient of the Smile Cookie Campaign for the third year in a row. Livingston also wants to thank everyone who purchased a smile cookie during the campaign.  She says the community has once again shown their support for the food bank, and those who use it.  She concluded by saying the money raised will be used in the best interest of the food bank.
