CUPE escalates campaign against hospital cuts in North Bay

CUPE is planning a massive town hall meeting against bed and staff cuts at the North Bay Regional Health Centre.

It was recently announced that 30 beds and 140 full time staff are being slashed from the hospital. The union will be calling everyone with a landline in North Bay to participate in an electronic conference call later this month.

Michael Hurley is the President of the Ontario Council of Hospital Unions and says North Bay is suffering from the deepest cuts out of any other hospital in Ontario. He says the entire community needs to be putting pressure on the Ontario government to up their funding to the hospital.

The virtual town hall is scheduled for the night of October 22nd.
