Premier Doug Ford has given an assignment to students in Ontario — watch Olympic hockey.
In a social media post, Ford says he has directed his Minister of Education to make sure all students in the province are able to watch the remaining Team Canada hockey games that take place during school hours.
The Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board followed up with a post of their own on Thursday, saying they’re following through on the Premier’s directive.
The board says with ‘hearts full of Canadian pride, their students and staff will be cheering on the women’s and men’s Olympic hockey teams as they take to the ice Thursday afternoon and Friday’.
After the Premier’s post, Education Minister Paul Calandra issued the directive to school boards across the province.
“Big games like these aren’t just about the outcomes,” he writes. “They’re a chance to rally together and cheer on some of Canada’s best.”
Canada’s women play the United States in the gold medal game Thursday at 1:10 pm while the men are in the semifinals, playing Finland on Friday at 10:40 am.
Ford says after the incredible performances we’ve seen from the two teams, all of Canada is cheering them on.
There’s no word if there will be a test afterwards.
After the incredible performances we’ve seen from our men’s and women’s hockey teams in Milan, all of Canada is cheering them on as they go for gold.
