Nipissing West OPP file charges after pedestrian robbed

A 31-year-old West Nipissing resident is facing charges after a robbery last week.

The Nipissing West OPP says officers were called to King Street in Sturgeon Falls just after 4 pm last Friday.

Provincial police say the investigation determined a pedestrian was approached, assaulted with a metal object and had a personal item stolen.

The OPP says the victim sustained minor injuries but did not require medical attention.

They add the suspect fled the area, with the investigation leading to an arrest.

Charges include robbery with a weapon and failure to comply with a probation order.

The accused was held for a bail hearing on Monday (July 27) in North Bay.
