A firsthand look at what the sea cadets program offers is coming up Wednesday evening (Sept. 9).

Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps Brilliant is holding an open house from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at Martin Leo Troy Armoury on Chippewa St. West.

Officials say it’s an excellent opportunity to learn more about the program, opportunities and experiences offered through cadets, meet staff and volunteers, and more.

There will be demonstrations, static displays, and hands-on activities.

“The Cadet Program is open to all youth between the ages of 12-18 years old and develops confident, self-sufficient leaders who form lasting friendships and are engaged in their communities while promoting physical fitness, healthy living and fostering an interest in the activities of the Canadian Armed Forces,” states a release. “Sea cadets also learn about seamanship, sailing, and traditions of the Royal Canadian Navy.”

The corps is also looking for adults to help train, administer, and supervise the local youth involved in the Cadet Program.

No previous military or cadet experience is needed.
