Changes coming to printed news in North Bay

The way printed news is delivered in North Bay is changing.

“In the coming days, we will launch a next generation digital platform at nugget.ca that prioritizes local and regional journalism. Front and centre will be locally relevant stories about the issues that matter most in our city and the surrounding region,” states an article in the North Bay Nugget. “As part of this evolution, our local standalone print product The Nugget will end Oct. 31, which will coincide with difficult decision by our parent company, Postmedia, to close its printing operation in North Bay, which will affect 11 employees in printing and distribution.”

Officials add there’s no change in newsroom staffing.

Along with the online offering, the week of Nov. 2, will see the start of a new weekly print publication, titled Northern News This Week.

The paper says it will feature stories from across the northeast and will be delivered to subscribers by mail.
