NBRCH recognized for patient safety

There are only four Patient Safety Awards given out across North America every year, and one was awarded to the North Bay Regional Health Centre.

Staff in the obstetrical unit received the MORE-OB award for safety. They performed a mock code to perfection back in March 2015, and received the award last Friday. The mock code involved the resuscitation of a pregnant woman in labour and her newborn child.

Rhonda Scarfone is the Nurse Educator in the Nursing Practice Clinic. In a release she says this scenario is rare, unexpected and devastating for the patient, family and caregivers.

She says everyone involved took part in a fantastic learning experience that could save lives.
