An OPP officer got more from a driver than his licence and registration during a traffic stop Sunday afternoon.
After pulling over a vehicle driven by a 19-year-old North Bay man on McKeown Avenue for a Highway Traffic Act offence, the officer requested the insurance and registration for the motor vehicle. The driver presented the documents and handed them to the officer. The officer located a small baggie containing small white pills, suspected to be suboxone, folded inside the paperwork.
The driver was placed under arrest for possession of a controlled substance, and police searched the vehicle. As a result of police investigation, the driver has been charged with:
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Other Drugs
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Cocaine
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order
The accused has been released on a promise to appear to attend the Ontario Court of Justice on May 8, in North Bay.
