Yesterday, North Bay Police Service executed a search warrant on a residence in North Bay and seized a sawed-off shotgun.
Police began an investigation Wednesday after having received information that a man in the North Bay was in possession of a sawed-off shotgun, which is a prohibited firearm. The investigation led to a search being conducted in a residence on Lakeshore Drive.
A 38-year-old North Bay man has been charged with:
- One count of Careless Storage of a Firearm,
- One count of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm,
- One count of Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon,
- One count of Possession of a Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition
- One count of Assault Police
As a result of the search, police also seized:
- A prohibited firearm (sawed-off shotgun)
- Ammunition for the firearm
- Two throwing stars
The accused has been held in custody pending a bail hearing at the North Bay Courthouse today.
