Police lay three sexual assault charges

Shortly after 10:00pm on Saturday evening, North Bay Police responded to a domestic call at a residence in the downtown area of North Bay.

As a result of the investigation, police have charged a 36-year-old man from North Bay with three counts of sexual assault, one count of assault, and one count of mischief.

Police say the male and female were having a meeting to discuss their recent separation. The accused became angry and damaged a television before assaulting and sexually assaulting the female victim. The victim was able to withdraw to another room in the residence where police were called.

The accused was arrested at the scene by police.

The victim received injuries and was taken for medical treatment but was later released from medical care.

During the investigation, two other allegations of sexual assault were made stemming from two separate incidents in 2018.

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

In order to protect the identity of the victim, the North Bay Police Service will not be releasing the name of the accused.
