Union, ONTC forge tentative agreement

Ontario Northland Transportation Commission (Ontario Northland) and Unifor Local 103 announced that they have reached a tentative collective agreement for all five bargaining units.

Unifor represents over 350 unionized employees working in clerical, on-board service, stores, and shops at various locations throughout northern Ontario.

“I am very happy that a tentative agreement has been reached,” said Corina Moore, President and CEO. “Both bargaining teams put a tremendous amount of time and effort into the process. Together, they have produced an agreement that will not only provide stability for employees, it will also enhance confidence from our remanufacturing customers and strengthen the division’s competitiveness. With this agreement in place, we are extremely well-positioned to attract more long-term remanufacturing contracts.”

“This agreement recognizes the skill, expertise, and value of our members,” said Andy Mitchell, President of Unifor Local 103. “We worked hard for this positive outcome and I look forward to bringing this agreement to the membership.”

The previous collective agreement between Unifor and Ontario Northland expired December 31st, 2018.
