Four arrested and charged with manslaughter after investigation into child’s death

Four people have been charged with manslaughter after a 23-month old child was found without vital signs at an East Ferris home last January.

In January 2020, the OPP got the call about the child from the North Bay and District Ambulance Service. The child was then pronounced deceased. An investigation by OPP resulted in several arrests on Wednesday and Thursday.

A 30-year-old, a 35-year-old, a 56-year-old, and a 57-year-old have all been charged with Manslaughter, Criminal Negligence Causing Death, and Fail to Provide the Necessaries of Life.

Two have been remanded into custody pending a bail hearing and two have been released on an Appearance Notice and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on May 4th.
