Firearms charges laid in incident near HOPEs Kitchen

Two people have been charged following an early-morning incident involving a gun on Cassells Street. 

Police responded at 3 AM Tuesday morning to the 1000 block of Cassells Street, where HOPEs Kitchen is located, to reports of an armed person making threats to others. 

Officers arrested one man and one woman at the scene. They also seized a .22 calibre rifle. 

The 42-year-old North Bay woman has been charged with:

  • One count of Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • One count of Pointing a Firearm
  • One count of Uttering Threats – Cause death or bodily harm
  • One count of Failure to Comply with Probation order
  • Two counts of possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order

The 32-year-old North Bay man has been charged with one count of weapon possession for a dangerous purpose. 

The man has been released on an undertaking while the woman remains in police custody pending a bail hearing at the North Bay Courthouse.
