North Bay City council reaches a decision on Cap and Trade

North Bay City Council will officially ask the Provincial Government to consider exempting Northern Ontario from the cap and trade tax after a unanimous vote on Councillor Mike Anthony’s motion.

The motion asks the government to review and consider eliminating this proposed increase of 4.3 cents per litre, at least in Northern Ontario.

Due to the impact it would have on residents and community members already facing economic challenges.

Some citizens might be skeptical of what influence, if any, council’s decision will have.

Anthony outlined a couple decisions made by the Liberals that public outcry affected, including a new tax in real estate that’s used in Toronto that the government was looking at using in the rest of the province.

But, places like North Bay took a stand and the government heard what people had to say.

Premier Kathleen Wynne will be paying a visit to North Bay on Friday.
