The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry is asking North Bay residents to be aware of bears in the area, and to take the necessary steps to avoid attracting bears into local neighbourhoods.
People in the Leonard Street, Cartier Street, and College Drive areas have reported seven sightings of black bears in the past week .
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry reminds the public that bears are often attracted to things such as garbage, bird food, odours from barbecues and ripe fruit left on trees and on the ground.
