Five missing persons cases highlighted by North Bay Police

Members of the North Bay Police service presented some information on missing persons cases they are currently working on. Five cases were discussed. Pictured left to right, Dawn Eva Carisse who went missing in 2001. Glen Warren Neil Wesley who went missing in 2010. Walter Charles Westbrook who went missing in 1994. William Richard Ostertag who went missing in 1990 and Brian Joseph Dunlop who went missing in 1994.

Some family members were on hand for the presentation, including Cecille Wesley, Glen Wesley’s mother. She spoke about how difficult it’s been for her family, but they haven’t given up hope. She held up a picture of her son smiling, and asked that if anyone had information to report it to the police.

Detective Constable Dave Wilson says with all of the cases they’re relying on the provincial Resolve Initiative, which is a huge resource for police. He says they’re the ones that are pushing our cases forward as far as matching the nearly 300 unidentified human remains in Ontario. From there, Wilson says they hope to be able to start pushing their cases to a national level, being compared with other provinces throughout Canada.

A lot has changed since some of these people went missing. Some of them had been reported missing before the inception of the internet. New databases have been set up to help police, new linkages that may be viable to the healthcare field and the Service Ontario field are now available. Wilson says they hold presentations like this to shine more light on the cases, and encourage anyone who might have information to come forward.
