The West Nipissing General Hospital has its hospice. The one bed suite was officially opened on Friday. Hospital president Cynthia Desormiers says talk of a hospice has been going on for several years. Desormiers says last fall the North East Local Health Integration Network delivered on the hospice and not just for West Nipissing. She says in Nipissing District, West Nipissing and Mattawa are each getting one hospice bed and six others are going to North Bay. Desormiers says next up for the hospital is the pursuit of a CT scanner and an application for the scanner is before the LHIN. And in about two weeks, the hospital will have a grand opening event to unveil its new digital X-Ray machine.
