North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority reports snow depth is on the rise

Since the last snow survey two weeks ago, an average of 28 centimetres of snow has built up at the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority survey sites.

Water Resources Specialist, Joel Harrison, says with this accumulation of snow, snow depth is almost 50 per cent higher than the long-term average for this time of year. Harrison says the water content in the snow is approximately 30 per cent higher than the long-term average.

The current average snow depth is 68.5 centimetres, and the average snow depth this time last year was nearly 53 centimetres. The next snow survey will be on March 1st.
