Marking Police Week and Canada Road Safety Week locally

Traffic enforcement and education are two ways city police are marking this Police Week and Canada Road Safety Week.

The North Bay Police Service says officers will be focused on aggressive, distracted and impaired driving, along with seatbelt compliance and pedestrian safety.

They say auxiliary officers will also be going throughout the community providing information on the CAMSafe program.

On Thursday, area police, fire, paramedics and victim services will be at Northgate Shopping Centre for a community information event (9 am to 3 pm).

The provincial theme for the week is Protecting Ontario Through Service.

City police say they will be showcase the many ways members serve and support the community through proactive policing, education, and community engagement initiatives.

“This week presents us with an opportunity to recognize the outstanding work our officers and police professionals do every day, in collaboration with emergency service partners,” says Acting Inspector Long. “It also gives communities across Ontario an opportunity to come together to honour and celebrate police personnel for the extraordinary work they do in keeping our communities safe.”

Police Week 2026 and Canada Road Safety Week take place May 10–16.
