A 25-year-old from Ottawa faces a stunt driving charge after North Bay OPP say they stopped a vehicle travelling more than double the speed limit on Highway 17 in Rutherglen.

Just before 11 pm Tuesday, provincial police say an officer observed a westbound vehicle travelling at 153 km/h in a posted 70 km/h zone.

The vehicle was stopped a short distance away.

Along with the stunt driving charge, the driver’s licence was suspended for 30 days, and the vehicle impounded for 14 days.

The accused has a court appearance in North Bay at a later date.
