MP Pauline Rochefort says a program that supported the creation of 382 summer jobs for young people in the riding last summer is now accepting applications.
The Canada Summer Jobs Program is back for 2027, helping employers provide meaningful employment opportunities while giving youth valuable work experience, developing their skills and preparing them for future careers.
“Canada Summer Jobs is an important investment in our young people and strengthens our local communities,” says Rochefort. “Last year’s results demonstrate the impact this program can have. The employers who participate in this program play an essential role in creating vibrant communities, delivering valuable services and helping young people build the skills and experience they need to succeed.”
Eligible not-for-profits, public sector employers and those in the private sector with 50 or fewer full-time employees, can apply until Dec. 3.
Ottawa says priority will be given to jobs in construction, environmental and climate-related activities, developing digital skills, not-for-profits that support underserved communities, and more.
Rochefort says the program provided $1.6 million in funding to 125 employers across Nipissing-Timiskaming last year.
