Multiple speed limiter charges filed by North Bay OPP

Seven commercial vehicle drivers and their carriers are facing charges after a recent North Bay OPP speed enforcement blitz.

Provincial Police say between Friday and Monday, the seven commercial vehicles were stopped for travelling between 116 km/h and 122 km/h in zones posted at either 90 km/h or 100 km/h.

Six were stopped on Highway 11 in Powassan with the other one on Highway 17 in Calvin Township.

Along with speeding charges for the drivers, the OPP says both the drivers and carriers face charges relating to the vehicles not having a working speed-limiting system.

Police say Ontario requires most heavy Commercial Motor Vehicles operating in the province to be equipped with a functioning speed limiter set to prevent the vehicle from exceeding 105 km/h.
