The North Bay OPP reports a hunting incident on Lake Nipissing has resulted in a careless use of a firearm charge for a 23-year-old Mattawa resident.
Provincial police say at about 4:45 pm on Friday, emergency crews responded to the lake in Nipissing Township.
They say the investigation determined two people were on a boat on the lake when a 12-gauge shotgun was discharged.
Police say it struck one of the people in the leg, with that person taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The accused was released from custody with a Dec. 15 court appearance in North Bay.
The OPP says the shotgun and boat were both seized for further examination.
