A 47-year-old North Bay man is facing drug trafficking-related charges after a city police Street Crime Unit investigation.

Police say reports of drug trafficking in the Lake Heights Road and Main Street East area last Wednesday led to police searching a vehicle and a Lake Heights residence.

A Mercedes, $9,000 in cash, and nearly $7,000 worth of suspected cocaine were seized.

“It is very concerning when we see illegal drugs being sold and making their way onto our streets,” says Insp. Scott McFarlane. “Our Street Crime Unit works tirelessly to find out who is bringing drugs into our community, so we can hold them accountable. This work takes time and persistence, and our investigators are fully committed to seeing these investigations through.”

The accused was arrested and held in custody pending a bail hearing.
