Two impaired and one stunt driving charge laid by city police last weekend

Operation Impact results are in from city police.

The North Bay Police Service took part in the national road safety campaign over the Thanksgiving long weekend, which focused on reducing preventable collisions, injuries and deaths on our roads.

City police say officers made two arrests for impaired driving, including one involving a novice driver, and laid a stunt driving charge.

20 speeding charges were filed while other charges include:
– Failing to stop at a red light (2)
– Unsafe lane changes (2)
– Following too closely (1)
– Disobeying a stop sign (1)
– Starting from a stopped position when unsafe (1)
– Disobeying a sign (1)

“We know the majority of drivers are making good decisions and doing their part to keep our roads safe, and we want to thank them for that,” says Sgt. Greg McClenaghan. “Unsafe driving is preventable and can have serious consequences for everyone.”

Police are reminding motorists to always plan ahead, arrange a designated driver or alternative transportation when consuming alcohol or other impairing substances, obey posted speed limits and drive according to road conditions.
