Food banks big winners of Hwy 17 Food Drive Challenge

North Bay once again won the Hwy 17 Food Drive Challenge against Sudbury.

The second annual event was held at the Battalion and Wolves games last week, collecting donations for food banks in the two cities.

Battalion fans donated 1,585 pounds of non-perishable food, while 882 pounds was collected in Sudbury.

“Troops fans collected the most, but in the end, both communities won,” reads a post from the North Bay Food Bank on social media.  “Wolves and Troops fans come together to support their local food banks and help fight food insecurity and that’s a victory that goes beyond any competition.”

The Battalion are back on the ice tonight (Oct. 29) at home to the London Knights.

Game time at Boart Longyear Memorial Gardens is 7 pm.

It’s also the Troops’ Halloween costume game with prizes up for grabs for fans wearing costumes.

Candy donations are also being accepted for North Bay Fire and Emergency Services annual Halloween event.
