Two fires deemed suspicious by Almaguin Highlands OPP

Almaguin Highlands OPP are asking for the public’s help with their investigation into two suspicious fires recently.

Provincial police say one involved a chip truck on Highway 518 West in the Municipality of McMurrich/Monteith.

Emergency crews were dispatched to the structure fire around 3 am on Oct. 26.

The next day, around 1:30 am, officers on general patrol discovered a fire at the Township of Strong Landfill on Forest Lake Road.

The OPP says fire crews arrived and extinguished the fire before it could spread further.

The Office of the Fire Marshal was notified because of the suspicious nature of both fires.

Police add investigators, at this time, have no information to suggest the incidents are related.

Anyone with information or video footage from the area around the time of either incident is asked to contact the Almaguin Highlands OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
