A 68-year-old West Nipissing man has been arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
The man was stopped in on John Street in Mattawa and police say an investigation into the driver led to a search and the subsequent seizure of the marijuana. The man was officially charged with possession of a schedule II substance for the purpose of trafficking – under 3 kg.
Police say members of the Mattawa OPP and the North East Region Community Street Crime Unit observed the man’s vehicle on Valois Drive before the stop, search, and arrest.
The man was released on a recognizance in bail court Thursday and will return for a court date in October in North Bay.
