A community-minded group is switching gears this Valentine’s Day. Instead of looking for “dates,” they are actively searching for alternatives to run as candi“dates” for public school trustees in the fall election.
Calling themselves Ready Or Not 2018 – North Bay, the group’s missive expresses dedication to finding a few good citizens to campaign for a trustee position with the Near North District School Board.
“Community members are concerned about whether children in the NNDSB will be #readyornot upon graduation to compete for post-secondary spots with students from other districts. Recent upheavals of students, schools and programming (Arts Nipissing, STEAM, French Immersion/Extended French, Specialist High Skills Major) involving neighbourhoods within the City of North Bay, indicate it is time for a change,” reads a media release.
The group offers support to “candidates who put the ‘trust’ back in ‘trustee.’”
