West Ferris, Chippewa lead local schools in Fraser Institute rankings

One year after West Ferris Secondary School was named the second fastest-improving secondary school in the province, there are more academic accolades from the Fraser Institute for the school.

This year, West Ferris has followed up on that lofty position by ranking second among the 10 fastest-improving schools provincially when it comes to Grade 9 applied math.

The rankings have been released as part of the conservative think tank’s Report Card on Ontario’s Secondary Schools.

In the overall school rankings, West Ferris and Chippewa Secondary School both placed in the top 200 of 747 anglophone and francophone secondary schools, both public and Catholic. A small number of independent and First Nations schools are also included.

West Ferris scored 7.2 out of 10 for an overall ranking of 175th, while Chippewa scored 7.1, placing 196th. St. Joseph-Scollard Hall, Widdifield, and Algonquin placed 292nd, 355th, and 612th out of 747, respectively.
