Local teams head south for Little NHL tournament

A dozen local teams are in Mississauga this week taking part in the Little NHL tournament.

That’s the Little Native Hockey League.

The event is hosted by Moose Cree First Nation and 210 teams take part with 3,000 Indigenous youth from across Ontario playing in the five-day event.

The opening ceremonies were held Sunday. Minister of Indigenous Services Jane Philpott says that the lessons learned on the ice and off at the 47th edition of the tournament will help the participants to become leaders in society through respect, perseverance, and discipline.
