Abandoned ice fishing hut found on Lake Nipissing

Someone ignored ice fishing rules on Lake Nipissing and left a fishing hut on the ice.

Conservation Officers with the Ministry of Natural Resources found the fishing hut last Friday at Amelia Beach in North Bay.

Ice fishing season on Lake Nipissing ended mid-March and all huts had to be off the lake by March 31^st.

Authorities are having difficulty tracking down the owner because the hut is not registered with the MNRF.

The ministry has turned to Near North Crime Stoppers with the hope that a cash reward will invite calls to the crime-fighting agency on the owner’s name.
