Local talent to take the big stage at Summer in the Park

Creative Industries says it is thrilled to be sponsoring talented local acts Nicholas Cangiano and Annie Sumi in partnership with Summer in the Park this weekend.

Cangiano will take the stage to kick off the 2018 Summer in the Park Festival at Memorial Gardens on Friday, opening for Scott Helman, Jonathan Roy and DNCE.

As an alternative solo musician, Cangiano brings a unique and immersive experience to each of his performances. He has released two full-length albums, will be recording his third this fall and will be touring by summer 2019.

Local singer-songwriter Annie Sumi will be performing Saturday, opening for Dean Brody.

“Annie’s album ‘Reflections’ made her a stand out talent on the Canadian scene,” says Summer in the Park Co-chair Geoff Richardson.

Sumi transforms real and imagined stories, weaving them together with enchanting music to create narratives that touch the heart.

“I’ve been story catching, travelling across the country listening to people’s stories about life and loss, love and laughter,” says Sumi.

Creative Industries is excited to bring local content to Summer in the Park. “North Bay has a rich and diverse music community and we are proud that local is being represented on the main stage,” says Creative Industries chair Katie Bevan.

Creative Industries invites the public to visit the lounge and beer tent outside Memorial Gardens, open Friday and Saturday from 5:00pm–7:00pm each night, where you can kick off the evening with local performances and giveaways.

Tickets start at $40 and are available at the North Bay Battalion Box Office, Memorial Gardens or online at www.summerinthepark.ca.
