Dominico represents her hometown Lakers at hockey showcase

North Bay native Maria Dominico has been busy this summer adding to an already impressive university hockey resume.

Representing her hometown Nipissing University Lakers, Dominico chipped in an assist in four games to help Team U Sports finish with a 3-1 record at the Hockey Canada Summer Showcase. USports defeated Canada’s Development Program twice and split a pair of games against Japan.

Following last season, Dominico was named the U Sports Women’s Hockey Rookie of the Year for 2017-18.

This is a national award that includes every university hockey program across the country. Dominico led the Lakers in scoring with 15 goals (second nationally) and 26 points, good for sixth across Canada.
Dominico had previously won the OUA award for first-year players.
