Police Association plays a round for a good cause

One Kids Place Children’s Treatment Centre will be receiving a much anticipated vibroacoustic chair for their Snoezelen Sensory Room thanks to the men and women of the North Bay Police Association.

The room is specially designed to deliver stimuli to various senses, using lighting effects, colour, sounds, music, and scents. It is a therapy for children and adults with autism and other developmental disabilities, dementia or brain injury. Equipment pieces for this specialized space, like this chair, are very costly but they make an invaluable difference in the lives of those who utilize them.

The North Bay Police Association’s annual golf event held in September raised funds which will help purchase this chair for children and adults with special needs within our community.

“I am pleased to announce that our association was able to raise over $6,200 for One Kids Place Children’s Treatment Centre,” said Roger Drolet, chair of the tournament, “we are very happy to have been partnered with One Kids Place and we look forward to working with them again.”

“One Kids Place is truly grateful to Roger and the entire North Bay Police Association and we value their continued support and dedication to our children and families. Vibroacoustic chairs can cost upwards of $8,500 so this donation is very much appreciated by all that will use it. We look forward to our continued partnership,” said Denis Filiatrault, Executive Director of One Kids Place.
