Nipissing DSSAB gets $2.7 million in housing money

The Nipissing DSSAB can repair some of its housing stock thanks to a $2.7 million grant from the Ford government.

The money is from the government’s new Community Housing Renewal Strategy, which is a $1 billion fund the province created to help it sustain, repair and grow social housing.

Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli says the local board and other DSSABs in Ontario can expect help from the province as they address issues like long wait lists, overcrowding and safety.

Fedeli says there is no reason for people in social housing to have to live in buildings where the walls are crumbling, the elevators are broken and the roofs leak.
